As with our day care program, overnight boarding provides your dog with comfortable housing, caring staff, and plenty of attention and exercise. They also have the opportunity to socialize with other dogs in groups based on size, age, and temperament; and to take advantage of amenities from our master grooming salon to our outdoor play areas and seasonal K9 swimming pool. At your request, our veterinary staff can also provide medical attention for issues from routine care to severe or chronic conditions. Please come for a visit and for more information and a tour.
Requirements for Dog Boarding at the Pet Resort:For overnight boarding, animals must be current on all required vaccines to limit the risk of disease both to your pet as well as to our other guests. Dogs and Cats must have fecal parasite exams every six months, as recommended by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention. Also, flea & tick prevention is required for dogs during their stay with us. (We can apply and dispense appropriate products from our hospital pharmacy if you need them.)
The required vaccines include:
Rabies (1 or 3 year protocol)
DA2PP combination for dogs (1 or 3 year protocol)
Bordetella (every 6 months) for dogs
Canine Influenza vaccine (For initial exposure two doses are given 2 to 4 weeks apart. An annual booster is required.)
Other vaccines that may be recommended by your veterinarian — including the lyme and leptospirosis vaccines — are dependent on your dog’s lifestyle and risks of exposure. They are not required for staying at the Pet Resort, but may be appropriate for your pet. Please feel welcome to discuss these vaccines, or any other medical concerns or questions you have, with our veterinarians on staff at Mamaroneck Veterinary Hospital.
Please bring your pet’s vaccination history with you when you check in for day care. Any treatments your pet may need can also be done by our veterinarians during their stay here. Additionally, if you have other concerns you would like addressed by a veterinarian while boarding, just let our receptionist know and they will arrange for the appropriate follow-up by a doctor during your pet’s stay.
